365 Ways You Can Be Missional

Every time you turn around somebody is asking you to give money to help with some cause. Many people just get tired of hearing groups beg them for money; especially when they cannot afford to make a commitment to give a significant amount of money toward any cause, no matter how worthy it is. As a church planter I am learning even more about how difficult it is to get churches, groups, and individuals to give financial support.

I hate begging people for money, but the cost to start a new church is expensive. That cost is just a drop in the bucket for the costs to run an established church. And since church plants are more successful in reaching lost people than established churches, that cost is definitely worth supporting. But how do you get that support when most churches are very focused on their own budget needs and many families are not willing to sacrifice large amounts of cash?

For decades marketing experts had determined that the average person considered anything under $20 as something they could afford with little or no thought. Most families of 4 could go out to eat fast-food for under $20. That is why TV ads were always advertising their products for $19.99 or 3 payments of $19.99. If you have noticed recent TV ads the cost has increased to $29.99 for many items and the cost for a family of 4 to eat fast-food has also increased. This tells me that $30 is the new $20.

That is why I love the idea of the Dollar a Day program. Asking churches or individuals to commit to give $1 a day toward a ministry that will potentially reach hundreds of lost people for Christ seems like an affordable thing. That is 365 ways you can be missional as an individual or a group.

What good is one dollar a day? Well, if one person gives $1 a day, that comes to $30 per month, or $365 per year. If 10 people give that amount it increases to $10 a day, $300 per month, and $3650 per year. If 100 people give that amount it shoots to $100 a day, $3000 per month, or $36500 per year.

Each individual gift is a big help in reaching lost people in an unchurched community like Annapolis. Would you be willing to support Elevate Church through a simple gift of $1 a day? You can setup auto monthly payments online here or send a monthly check to Elevate Church, PO BOX 3635, Annapolis, MD 21403.

Please talk to your family, your small groups, your choir, your church leaders, and more about supporting Elevate Church. We begin ministering to the Eastport community of Annapolis January 1, 2015, and I would love for you to be a part of our ministry.
