Mind Tricks

Our son recently spent a few days in the hospital. Although he was not on much pain medicine during his stay, he did some really funny things. There was an unusual painting in his room of some flowers. It was mostly silver with some abstract border. When I first came in to relieve Wendy for a few hours, Ashton told me the painting changes colors. Later he told me that a piece fell off. Several times he told me that it had changed again. I think the most interesting time was when he said that the Bionicle had pulled out his sword. Ashton mentioned the changing picture to several of the nurses as well. The next day when I came into the hospital room, Wendy told me that Ashton had been telling her and the nurses all about the magically changing picture. Ashton started telling Zachary all about the changing picture, so Zachary had to stare at it also. Zachary kept saying, "When does it change?" I finally took him outside the room and explained to him that pain and pain meds will

Thank You Mr President

A great tribute to a great President. Thank you, Mr. President, for protecting the rights of the unborn, for protecting the American people and for standing strong on your morals regardless of the hateful and demeaning way you have continually been treated during these past 8 years. Liberals should be ashamed at how they treated you, but instead they are proud of calling for your murder, laughing at attacks against you and praying for your demise. While we conservatives will not treat Mr. Obama in a disrespectful manner, we cannot expect that the his people will do the same for you.

Family Friday Frenzy

We chose to sleep in a little today since it is my day off. We paid dearly for it. Our boys never sleep in. Sleeping until 7 AM is sleeping for them. So our morning began with yelling, screaming, doors slamming and then a 10 year old running into our room to hide under our sheets between us. This of course was followed by a 13 year old rushing into our room. We then heard through stereophonic broadcasting what had happened. I don't think I could even write an example of how they both shared their version of the incident at the same time and rebutted each other without stopping for a breath. Here are the basics: Ashton left the laptop on the arm of the recliner Zachary sat in the recliner and leaned it back too far The recliner tipped over The computer fell The disk drive broke Ashton yelled Zachary ran Ashton chased Now you are up to speed with our story. Unfortunately for the boys, they woke me up during a dream that had already put me in a bad mood. Now, I guess I need to share t

On the Road Marked With Suffering

Every day we continue to hear more and more negative news about the future of our economy. My family has personally been dealing with some very tough financial situations during the past year. Most likely we will see our home in Florida foreclosed on this year. We went through all of our savings trying to continue making double mortgage payments while our home sat on the market for more than one and a half months without any interest in it. One thing we have learned through all of this, is that it is during the tough times that our faith is tested. Often we have sung the praise song "Blessed Be Your Name" by Matt Redman, but those words mean more to us now. Blessed be Your name In the land that is plentiful Where Your streams of abundance flow Blessed be Your name Blessed be Your name When I'm found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness Blessed be Your name Blessed be Your name When the sun's shining down on me When the world's all as it should
