Insurance Frustrations

Every time I asked my wife to call the insurance company to find out if we needed to get a pre-authorization before seeing a specialist under our plan. They actually act annoyed when she calls. So what happens the one time she doesn't call? We get a EOB (Explanation of Benefits) saying that they are not paying due to failure to preauthorize. Can you hear me screaming? aaarrrgh!
